In response to a growing need for housing support, the Wausau Police Department has coordinated the opening of a temporary homeless shelter.
Starting May 1st, the First United Methodist Church will house the shelter, which will operate through the end of December.
City officials plan to use this time to identify a permanent location for a long-term solution.
