For local and area destination promoters, the NFL Draft is almost like a second Christmas.
The team at Visit Manitowoc is always excited to promote everything the Clipper City has to offer, but with the influx of visitors from around the country this week, they are hitting a whole new clientele.
Courtney Hansen, the Executive Director of Visit Manitowoc, and her team have been working with the NFL to promote Manitowoc for the better part of a year, and it all comes to a head this week.
She said, “This week, our goal is really making sure that visitors feel welcome and that they have all the information that they need while they’re here or might be dropping through.”
This includes working with local businesses to make sure they are up to date on their hours and in the promotion of any events they have planned for the week, while also helping local hotels advertise any available rooms.
Hansen noted that, compared to last year, Manitowoc hotels are definitely seeing a spike, but…
“This weekend last year, there wasn’t anything major happening in our community,” she explained. “So reports that we’re getting from our lodging partners now are that there’s still rooms available if anyone wants to grab those.”
One of the biggest offerings this week is the shuttle service in Manitowoc to and from the Draft.
Bay Bus has two shuttles going to Lambeau Field on Thursday (April 24th) for day one, and one on Friday for day two.
Hansen tells us that, as of Monday, “The earlier shuttle on Thursday had a few spots left and then just a few more were available for the Friday shuttle. But that afternoon, Thursday one was already full.”
