Some changes have been made to Manitowoc’s municipal codes regarding swimming pools and fences.
The Common Council approved creating a section to regulate swimming pools, hot tubs, and spas permanently without getting a permit from the City’s Building Inspection Department.
They are also not allowed to be placed in the front or side yard area and must be no less than five feet away from a lot line.
Also, any swimming pool, hot tub, or spa with water over 18 inches in depth will have to be surrounded by a fence or barrier.
Fencing amendments will also require a permit from the city’s Building Inspection Department.
Still, the owner or applicants will be responsible for locating all property lines before construction can start.
The city also included what materials can and can’t be used and height regulations.
More information about the municipal code’s changes can be found online on the Common Council’s page at Manitowoc.org.
