A graphic designer from Manitowoc was tasked with making designs for a music festival at the NFL Draft.
The Draft City Music Fest is part of kicking off and ending Draft Week in Green Bay.
Wade Marks and his wife own Printed Productions in Menasha and were asked by Green Bay Music Promoter Tom Johnson and Mayor Eric Genrich to design the music festival’s log, posters, stage banners, and some event merchandise.
The main poster for the festival features the skyline of Green Bay and Lambeau Field, as well as a man playing guitar with an amplifier.
There is also a football sitting on the amplifier, enjoying the music being played.
Marks tells SeehaferNews.com that his inspirations usually come from drinking coffee and going on a quiet bike ride.
“I will sketch something out mentally, come home and sketch it out,” he described. “And then that will eventually turn into the final graphics for whatever product or poster that I was commissioned to design.”
However, with the Draft City Music Fest, he got some input from the City of Green Bay.
Marks explains that he loves drawing characters, and the football on the amplifier mentioned in the poster is “actually the same football character that is on the beer label for the official beer of the Draft City Music Fest.”
While Marks says the experience at first was a bit overwhelming, it was a good experience.
“Overall I’m very happy with it,” he stated. “And most of all, it was fun for me to design. And if it’s not fun, then that kind of stinks.”
Marks has worked in designing and printing for over 20 years, working with a number of promoters and even designing products for groups like PetSkull Brewing.
Draft City Music Fest gets underway later tonight (April 23rd), starting with the Chocolateers at 4:00 p.m. before De La Soul headlines Night 1.
The second night of the music festival is this Saturday (April 26th), with headliners Less Than Jake.
