Governor Tony Evers has approved millions in funding to improve a highway in Sheboygan County.
In total, $8.1 million was awarded to the county to improve 13.3 miles of State Highway 28 from Valley View Drive at the southern county border to State Highway 57 in the Village of Waldo.
The project is scheduled to begin next week Tuesday (April 29th).
Work to be done will include pavement replacement, guardrail upgrades, culvert replacements, and the replacement of a deteriorating bridge in the Village of Cascade.
Highway 28 will be closed and detoured for the bridge replacement; however, the remaining portion of the highway will be open to two-way traffic during other roadway improvements, but may be reduced to one lane in areas.
This funding and construction were awarded to address deficiencies in the existing highway corridor.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation estimates the project will be completed by September 30th.
