A Special Olympics athlete in Two Rivers picked up some hardware during a state competition.
Freshman Leif Webster competed in the state Special Olympics from April 11th-13th.
He won two silver medals in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle swim. Leif started swimming lessons at age three at the Manitowoc Two-Rivers YMCA and has been involved in Special Olympics swimming for the past three years.
The swim team starts practice in early January each year, and the season ends in early April.
Leif says his favorite part of the weekend state competition in Oshkosh was spending time with his friends.
He also credited Mr. Jansky for helping him with weight training at school since the workouts helped him become a strong swimmer.
Webster hopes to be able to join the Two Rivers School swimming team next school year.
