Lakeland University has named its top undergraduate educator of the year.
The university has shared that they have honored Chia-Chin “Cristi” Chang as this year’s winner of the Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award.
This award recognizes excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level, and it was awarded to Chang on Wednesday (April 16th) at the annual Lakeland Honors Banquet.
Chang has been a faculty member at Lakeland since 1999 and has become known for being challenging yet supportive of students while setting them up for success in their future.
Chang is a professor of mathematics and computer programming and received her master’s in computer sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
On the award, Britanni Meinnert, Lakeland assistant professor of hospitality management and Cooperative Education, said, “She walks into a room and is always positive with a smile. It is clear from her work with students and colleagues at Lakeland that she embodies everything this award is about: the celebration of excellent teaching.”
Aside from teaching, she has also been a part of the Academic Peer Review Committee, Lakeland’s Institutional Review Board, the budget committee, and the psychology curriculum committee.
