A Manitowoc native once again took part in a military competition.
Sergeant First Class Nick Whitney competed with his partner, Captain Austin Rutledge, at the 41st Annual Best Ranger Competition, where the duo finished 2nd.
They were also named the recipients of the prestigious Moore-Van Aalst Marksmanship Award, which is awarded to the team that has the highest overall score in all marksmanship events.
SFC Whitney has been participating in the Best Ranger Competition since 2022, and was knocked out of last year’s competition due to an injury on day two.
Over his four years of competing, SFC Whitney has gradually risen the ranks, finishing 8th in 2022 and 6th in 2023.
