An Eastern Wisconsin Senator is co-signing a letter to President Donald Trump aimed at helping Wisconsin Veterans.
In the letter, co-signed by Representative William Penterman, the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Veterans and Military Affairs, the state legislators request President Trump and Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. make “federal policy adjustments necessary to facilitate state participation in the Veterans Match component of the Public Assistance Reporting Information System (PARIS).”
Specifically, they are asking them to “resolve the federal inter-agency data-sharing impasse that prevents Medicaid programs from fully utilizing PARIS for veterans…authorize or encourage CMS to recognize VA coverage as third-party liability for Medicaid cost-avoidance and recovery purposes…(and) consider creating incentives for state participation in the PARIS Veterans Match, including through enhanced federal funding, technical assistance, or performance-based Medicaid program flexibility.”
The duo claim that making these fixes would “honor the service of our veterans, provide real taxpayer savings, and fulfill this administration’s goals of eliminating waste and improving the effectiveness of government programs.”
