A Manitowoc man is facing charges after a child tested positive for cocaine.
The investigation into the suspect began when Child Protective Services reported a potential case of child abuse.
Officers conducted a search warrant on a home in the 1000 block of South 18th Street Thursday morning (April 10th) where THC, drug paraphernalia, and plastic baggies with a white residue, later determined to be cocaine, were seized.
The 38-year-old male homeowner was taken into custody, and he admitted to using cocaine, but never in front of his child.
However, the child previously tested positive for the drug.
The suspect said he didn’t know how that test would come back positive, but officers had located those plastic baggies with cocaine inside on the floor in the basement of the residence.
The man was arrested on charges of Child Neglect – Exposure to Drug Use, Possession of THC, Drug Paraphernalia, and a Non-Schedule Drug, and Drug Offense Repeater.
