The Manitowoc Lincoln girls soccer team continued its strong start to the season last night in front of a home crowd.
The Ships took down Sheboygan Falls 2-1, avenging last season’s 1-0 loss to the Falcons. Sarah Bolchen opened up the scoring thanks to an assist from Teegan Heyn which Coach Ethan Jones called “a beautiful through ball.”
The Falcons would tie it up a few short minutes later, leading to a defensive bout until the 72nd minute.
Morgan Schnell got a corner kick to connect with Ava Quinchia, who redirected it to Rachel Lambrecht, who found the back of the net with the game-winning goal.
Julia Sieracki had another stellar game between the pipes, making 10 saves, while also receiving solid defense in front of her.
Coach Jones said of the game, “All the girls showed a lot of grit, and never gave up. This team has been fun to watch.”
With the win, the Ships improved to 2-0, and will continue their five-game homestand next week Tuesday, when Denmark invades Ron Rubick Municipal Field.
