Additional work must be done on a dam project in Kiel.
The Kiel City Council voted last night on whether to approve change orders for the project for about $43,990.
City documents show that Michaels Construction was working on the project when they found additional concrete under the water, where a new dam part was supposed to be replaced.
Two walls, a concrete slab, and a fish ladder that weren’t found in the original documents for the project will require additional parts to modify an outside portion of the dam.
Michaels is also asking to increase the thickness of another wall on the dam.
In February, the City of Kiel announced that the dam on E. Fremont Street is being repaired.
The project is scheduled to be finished in May.
