After a week of significant increases around the area, motorists got a bit of reprieve at the pump this week.
As reported by the AAA Gas Prices website, the average price per gallon of fuel in Manitowoc County is down five cents from this time last week, now sitting at $3.17.
Sheboygan County saw an eight-cent drop to $3.13, while Calumet County’s average is down a dime to $3.12. Outagamie County boasts the least expensive fuel in our area, with the seven-cent drop from last week giving them an average of $3.07 per gallon.
Brown County also saw a seven-cent drop to $3.11, while Kewaunee and Door Counties’ averages are eleven cents cheaper this week, sitting at $3.13 and $3.10 per gallon, respectively.
The state average is down seven cents to $3.12 while the national average dipped two cents to $3.24.
So far this year, the average in Manitowoc County has been steadily rising since its low point of $2.70 in the second week of December.
If the prices were to follow the trends from the last four years, we can expect a leveling off soon, with a high point around July or August, before the steady decline from late summer to mid-winter.
