The Kewaunee County Breakfast on the Farm will be highlighting a farm with 167 years of history, all with one family.
EL-NA Farms, located at E4029 Pheasant Road in Algoma, is currently owned in part by Lonnie Fenendael, a sixth-generation farmer.
His Belgian ancestors purchased the land in 1858, and the family has farmed the land and produced dairy ever since.
Eli and Nancy Fenendael, the fifth generation of Fenendaels, officially named it EL-NA Farms in 1969, which was a combination of each of their first names.
Now consisting of 2,500 cows and 7,500 acres, the farm has seen much growth and expansion within the last 25 years.
A few of their most notable accomplishments include the addition of a new 40-stall rotary parlor in 2008 (the first rotary to be built in Kewaunee County) as well as the purchase of an additional farm in 2022 – Sand Bay Dairy – located in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
Their latest extension, a grain facility, is set to be completed this year.
The Kewaunee County Breakfast on the Farm is scheduled for Father’s Day, June 15th, with meals being served from 8:00 until noon.
The event will kick off with a church service at 7:00 a.m., and will also feature an educational area with equipment displays and a petting zoo.
