A local meat producer has recalled products shipped nationally, including here in Wisconsin.
The U.S. Food Safety Inspection Service has announced that Johnsonville cheddar bratwursts have been recalled due to the possibility of being contaminated with a foreign material.
The recall of cheddar brats was officially issued on Saturday (April 5th) and affects 19-ounce packs that will have an establishment number that reads “Est. 1647”.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported due to the possibility of a foreign contaminant; however, two individuals did report that they found a hard plastic material in their brats.
It is estimated that roughly 22,600 pounds of the Johnsonville products could be contaminated, many of which may be in consumers’ freezers.
Those with cheddar bratwursts are urged not to consume them but rather to throw them out or return them to their place of purchase.
