Manitowoc County Foster Care is inviting everyone to learn more about being a foster parent.
As of mid-March, there were roughly 150 children in Manitowoc County who are in out-of-home care situations, and Manitowoc County Foster Care Coordinator Karen Zahn says, “The need for foster parents has never been greater.”
Those who would like to learn more about the program and being a foster parent are encouraged to attend an informational session on April 10th, which will be held at the Manitowoc Public Library at 1:00 p.m.
Zahn said its all about making sure these children who are stuck in a bad situation have the best opportunity to grow into the best possible version of themselves they can be.
She put it bluntly, “Every child needs at least one person, if not more, that believes in them, that believes that they can succeed and that they have a future ahead.”
There are also informational sessions scheduled for May 8th at the Manitowoc/Two Rivers YMCA, May 15th via Zoom, and June 12th, again at the Manitowoc Public Library.
