The work of Plymouth High School students will be on display this weekend at an upcoming event.
The 2025 Plymouth Maple Festival will take place tomorrow (April 5th) at City Park from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the event, the new sugar shack, which was built by Plymouth construction students, will be highlighted as it’s used to turn tree sap into maple syrup.
Students began constructing the sugar shack on October 1st and completed the building project on December 15th.
Despite the cold temperatures, 15 students and teacher Beau Biller devoted 20 three-hour class periods to finish construction.
The shack houses an evaporator and all other necessary equipment needed to make maple syrup.
It is also already fully operational, with one of the first groups to use the new building being seventh-grade students at Riverview Middle School.
Following the Plymouth Maple Festival, a dedication ceremony will be held for the sugar shack.
