The former Neenah Police Officer charged with possessing child pornography has appeared in court.
22-year-old Owen Halls was present in Outagamie County for his initial appearance as he faces two felony charges of Possession of Child Pornography.
He was also given a $20,000 cash bond, which he has yet to post. Court records show that the investigation into the 22-year-old dates back to October of last year.
However, WFRV reports that a School Resource Officer (SRO) with the Kaukauna Police Department received an Internet Crimes Against Children tip which alleged that two files containing child sexual abuse material were uploaded online on June 10th, 2024.
Subpoenas and search warrants were submitted by the SRO, which led police to Halls’ residence.
Investigators then confirmed that they had seen child sex abuse materials on his online accounts, including a Telegram account, a popular messaging app.
When asked about his Telegram account, the former police officer confirmed having one and using it for stuff he probably shouldn’t.
Halls will return to court in Outagamie County on May 5th.
