The City of Sheboygan’s Attorney is resigning.
City Attorney Charles Adams has decided to resign from his role in the aftermath of a Sheboygan Committee of the Whole meeting held last week where the attorney’s conduct and performance on the job were discussed in closed session.
According to the agenda, this meeting was held behind closed doors because “if discussed in public, (it) would be likely to have a substantial adverse effect upon the reputation of any person referred to,” that individual being Adams.
A law firm, Attolles Law, was brought in to provide legal counsel to the City once the decision was made that a meeting of the Committee was necessary as it regarded to the conduct of Adams.
Malia Malone, an attorney with Attolles Law, spoke with SeehaferNews.com and said that much of what was covered at that Committee of the Whole meeting is not legally allowed to be discussed at this time, but may become available at a later date.
However, Malone was able to confirm that at that meeting, the committee received a report completed by attorneys from Briesen and Roper related to Adams’ conduct.
This report came after the City authorized Briesen and Roper to investigate an ethics complaint brought forward against Adams last year.
Malone also confirmed that additional meetings of the Committee of the Whole were planned to be held to further discuss the City Attorney’s conduct and what led to such a meeting being held in the first place.
However, with Adams announcing his resignation, any future talks regarding his conduct have since been canceled entirely.
SeehaferNews.com contacted Grazia Parella, Chair of the Committee of the Whole, and Sheboygan’s City Administrator Casey Bradley, for comment but both withheld statements.
