Every Republican in the US House of Representatives voted to pass a bill targeting pandemic unemployment fraud last Tuesday (March 11th).
That includes 6th District Representative Glenn Grothman, who says the bill is in response to the misguided lockdowns imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Grothman says Congress approved trillions in funding programs that did help save jobs, businesses, and families from financial ruin.
However, the Glenbeulah natives says, “others (meaning pandemic-era programs) were carried on for too long by the Biden Administration and as a result were rife with waste, fraud, and abuse.”
The Pandemic Unemployment Fraud Enforcement Act is supposed to help the abuse, and Grothman said the House passed the bill to extend the prosecution window from five to ten years, providing federal agencies with the necessary time to investigate the fraud, recover stolen funds, and hold perpetrators accountable.
The Republican congressman finishes saying, “I proudly supported this bipartisan legislation, which marks a crucial step toward holding fraudsters accountable and ensuring stronger protections for taxpayer dollars in future relief programs.”
While 83 Democrats also voted for the bill, Wisconsin Democrats Mark Pocan and Gwen Moore voted against it.
