A Holcombe man is in custody after being charged in connection with a violent domestic assault from December.
Michael Smith was arrested and is currently being held in the Chippewa County Jail.
He faces charges including attempted strangulation, suffocation, intimidation, three counts of battery, and domestic abuse.
According to prosecutors, the victim, a woman, spoke to investigators in January about the assault, which occurred just days before Christmas.
She reportedly still had a black eye from the incident.
