The Manitowoc County Historical Society is gearing up to celebrate one of the most iconic moments in American history.
On April 18th, 1775, Paul Revere and William Dawes mounted their trusty horses and warned residents of Boston, “The British are coming!”
On the 250th anniversary of the ride, the Manitowoc County Historical Society is encouraging businesses, residents, government buildings, and more to display a pair of lights, a reference to the two lanterns displayed in the Old North Church, indicating the impending invasion was coming via the sea.
The lanterns should be displayed the evenings of April 18th and 19th as a part of the nationwide “Two Lights for Tomorrow” initiative.
The program is designed as a call for unity and the call to serve each other and is the precursor to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 2026.
