A local food pantry is being forced to reduce its food pantry and community meal programs.
As we previously reported, Grow it Forward has seen a massive reduction in the amount of food they receive from the Emergency Food Assistance Program, with CEO Amber Daugs noting they went from getting 250 to 280 boxes of produce a month down to only five.
Additionally, some federally funded programs have been eliminated, forcing Grow it Forward to make significant adjustments to its programming.
Starting on March 31st, the local nonprofit will be transitioning from a Monday drive-thru community meal to in-person dining only, with guests only able to receive one meal.
Take-out orders will not be allowed either.
As for the food pantry, effective April 3rd, participants will only be able to visit once per month instead of once weekly.
Additional changes may be coming, including some adjustments to the distribution methods.
Daugs said in the announcement, “We know this is hard, and we appreciate your understanding.”
Grow it Forward is also hosting a food drive to try to refill their shelves.
