The man known as Fond du Lac’s “Halloween Killer” has returned to court.
75-year-old Gerald Turner was convicted in 1973 for sexually assaulting and killing 9-year-old Lisa Ann French while she was trick-or-treating.
Although his prison sentence ended in 2018, he was ordered by the court to remain at Sand Ridge Secure Treatment Center, a secure mental health facility.
Turner returned to court yesterday (March 12th) for a status conference after he and his legal counsel filed a motion to reconsider the decision that ruled he was still a sexually violent person, thus confining him to the secure mental health facility he has been at for seven years.
The state opposed the motion brought forth by Turner’s attorney, however, they will have until April 17th to officially respond in writing to the motion to reconsider the decision to keep the 75-year-old at a secure mental health facility.
Turner returns to court on July 8th for a motion hearing, where this matter will be discussed further.
