The Manitowoc Police Department has issued a statement on an ongoing death investigation.
Captain Cooper Schmidt reports that the Police Department and Manitowoc Fire Rescue were called to a wooded area off of South Lake Street just before 10:00 this morning (March 12th) on a report of a deceased individual.
The age and gender of the individual were not released.
While the investigation is in its early stages, Captain Schmidt did say there was no indication of foul play and that the community is not in any danger.
The Manitowoc County Coroner’s Office is conducting an autopsy, and the investigation remains open.
Captain Schmidt and the Department offered their “deepest condolences to those affected by this incident.”
