The Manitowoc Public School District is getting funding for a Recovery High School Planning Grant.
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) announced that the district is one of four to get the $75,000 in funding to provide resources for dedicated environments where students in recovery can thrive academically and personally.
The districts, including MPSD, are designed to meet the unique needs of students overcoming substance use and mental health challenges that often coexist with substance use.
Other school districts are getting a share of the funding including Ashland, Beloit, and Norris.
The funding comes from Act 72, which was passed in 2023.
The grants were also available for private and tribal schools along with nonprofits organizations established within school districts.
