The Wisconsin DOT is warning motorists of some impending short-term closures of the rest areas on I-43 in Manitowoc County.
Mark Kantola, the Northeast Region’s Communications Manager says crews will be at the southbound rest area at Maribel from March 17th to the 21st, and the northbound rest area at Denmark March 24th through the 28th.
Vehicles will not be allowed into the rest areas during the closures as crews will be conducting clearing and brush removal is in advance of razing and replacement of both rest area structures.
This project will also add 71 additional parking spaces for semis, with construction planned for April 28th, 2025.
The rest areas will again be closed from April 28th through sometime in June. Additional details on the project can be found at 511WI.gov.
