
A family in the Town of Two Rivers is without a home after a fire last night (March 6th).
Fire Chief Mark Leichtfuss tells SeehaferNews.com that his crews were called to the 7200 block of County Road O at 8:30 p.m. on a report of heavy smoke and flames coming from a residence.
All four family members were accounted for, along with their pets, and crews began attacking the flames while also activating the MABAS alarm.
The blaze is believed to have started in the chimney area of a wood burning fireplace, and caused an estimated $250,000 in damage.
A total of twelve fire departments responded to the scene, including Branch, the City of Two Rivers, Menchalville, Mishicot, Silver Creek, Whitelaw, Carlton, Kellnersville, Maribel, Rockwood, and Tisch Mills.
Also assisting a the scene was Kelmann Restoration, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office and Highway Department, Two Rivers Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Mishicot Ambulance.
Chief Leichtfuss expressed his gratitude “to all emergency personnel who responded last night and to the community for their support during this incident.”
