A judge has approved the supervised release of Morgan Geyser.
Geyser is the woman who, at the age of 12, stabbed her friend in 2014 in a failed attempt to summon the fictional character “Slenderman.”
Geyser and another friend lured Payton Leutner, another 12-year-old, into the Wisconsin woods, where they stabbed her 19 times.
Leutner survived the attack, and Geyser was sent to a mental institution.
On Thursday, a judge ruled in favor of Geyser’s release after a hearing regarding her continued commitment.
Three doctors testified that she is now well enough for release.
A hearing to determine the conditions of her release is scheduled for later this month.
