A Madison man is facing charges after allegedly attempting to carjack and rob several people at knifepoint.
Police report that yesterday morning, a woman was driving in the 900 block of East Washington Avenue when a man riding a bike approached her car and brandished a knife.
The woman managed to drive away and contact the police.
The suspect then confronted another driver nearby, again threatening them with the knife and demanding they exit the vehicle.
Afterward, he entered a grocery store and attempted to rob a customer with the knife, but store employees chased him off.
Officers later found the suspect hiding in a sewer drain nearby and arrested him. Charges are pending.
