Today is the last day for a major cheesy event in northeastern Wisconsin.
The 2025 United States Championship Cheese Contest started on Tuesday (March 4th) with a preliminary round of judging at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon.
According to the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA), more than 2,400 pounds of cheese, butter, cultured dairy products, and dry dairy products from 31 states will be evaluated by a team of skilled, nationally renowned judges before a champion is crowned later this afternoon at 2:00 pm.
The biennial event has been hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association since 1981 and is the largest technical dairy products evaluation in the nation.
In 2023, a cheese from Connecticut earned the Championship Cheese title with an impressive score of 98.7 out of 100 points.
WCMA Executive Director John Umhoefer says, “We’re honored to offer them this opportunity to grow their businesses, take pride in their craft, and enjoy the unique camaraderie and connection of this industry.”
