A Kiel firefighter has been recognized for his quick action to help save a person’s life while off-duty.
Fire Lieutenant Kyle Preissner was shopping at Menards in Sheboygan when he saw a person go into cardiac arrest.
Without hesitation, he and a nurse from Sheboygan rushed to the scene and immediately began CPR.
The man survived because of Preissner and the nurses’ efforts.
The Kiel Fire Department says more than 350,000 cardiac arrests happen outside of hospitals each year, and the survival rate depends on the immediate response of bystanders.
Kiel Firefighters explain that Preissner’s action and dedication to public safety highlight what it truly means to be a first responder.
His dedication to the City of Kiel and public safety extends far beyond his official duties.
The fire department encourages everyone to learn CPR because you never know when you’ll need it.
