A local organization has finished moving to a new location.
United Way Manitowoc County is now located at 33 Waldo Blvd Suite 2 near the roundabout on Memorial Drive.
Director of Impact Strategies Ben Peters tells SeehaferNews.com that the building isn’t hard to miss.
Peters tells residents to “Look for Dolly Parton reading a book in the window, that’s how you’ll know we’re there. Our Dolly Parton Imagination Library Program has really taken off and we have a cutout of her in the window to help you find us.”
Peters says they decided to move because there was a lot of office space, including conference rooms, that they didn’t need.
“Working with our landlord, we were able to find another property in the same office complex,” he explained. “It’s the perfect size for us.”
Executive Director Ashley Bender said on an episode of WOMT’s Talk United podcast that the organization had to pay rent in their old building, which meant:
“Fewer dollars would go out to the community,” she shared. “So, if we could find a space that not only the met the needs of our staff and what we need to do every day, but if we could find a space that was rent free that meant more donor dollars going back into the community through programs and supporting nonprofits.”
The United Way is now able to put more money toward groups who need it but have been able to give out almost 500 books through the Dolly Parton Imagine Library program.
Peters says the next step is working with the new board members and getting ready for a future ribbon cutting that will happen sometime in summer.
