A Manitowoc County judge is allowing the great-uncle of Ethan Hauschultz to have more contact with people that could be involved in his case.
During a scheduling hearing today, attorneys for 54-year-old Timothy Hauschultz requested that he be allowed to be in contact with his daughter and his wife Tina McKeever-Hauschultz.
Donna Kuchler also asked for unrestricted access for Timothy to go to Bible studies at a Manitowoc church.
Judge Jerilyn Dietz allowed Timothy to have unsupervised contact with his daughter now that she is an adult, but they can’t discuss the case.
She also allowed “non-abusive” contact with Tina, who was convicted for her role in Ethan’s death years ago.
She has since been released from prison.
However, Dietz did keep the ruling on the Bible study saying Timothy can go to the adult Bible study because an original order doesn’t allow him to have contact with kids.
District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre argued against the motions saying that the daughter is a witness in the trial and that Tina is also on the potential witness list.
A new trial date for Timothy was set for October 1st.
He is facing several charges including felony murder and child abuse in the 2018 death of Ethan.
Timothy allegedly ordered Damian Hauschultz and Ethan to carry heavy logs in winter as punishment for not knowing Bible verses.
Damian is serving a 20-year prison sentence in Ethan’s death after he was poked and hit over 100 times before being buried in the snow.
Ethan died at a hospital later.
