President Donald Trump broke a record last night (March 4th) in his address to a joint session of Congress.
The just shy of 100-minute speech is the longest in modern history while covering a wide array of topics.
He addressed what he has done over his first month and a half in office, specifically the work of DOGE, while also asking for more money for deportations and a new crime bill among others.
As would be expected, 6th District Congressman Glenn Grothman of Glenbeulah praised the president’s speech, saying he “laid out a bold vision for the future of our country, focusing on strengthening our economy, securing our borders, protecting our children, honoring police and firefighters, and ensuring that every American has the opportunity to achieve success.”
Grothman also was happy with President Trump’s position on “policies to affirm there are two genders, protect women in sports, and stop the mutilation of children in the name of ‘gender-affirming care’.”
Senator Tammy Baldwin, meanwhile, had a very different opinion. She said that President Trump spent his speech “pointing fingers and playing politics, not outlining real solutions that help Wisconsin families and businesses.”
She claimed to be receiving numerous phone calls from constituents regarding their “fears about children and seniors having their Medicaid ripped away, veterans losing their jobs, and costs skyrocketing from a trade war.”
