The next steps are being taken for a project with St. Francis of Assisi Church on Grand Avenue.
The Manitowoc Plan Commission approved a Conditional Use Permit for the church and for a new building with gathering spaces, offices, and meeting areas.
Deacon Mark LeGreve explains that the next step for the project is getting approved at March’s Common Council meeting.
They are also working with architects for the final designs of the building in the next two weeks.
The designs will then be reviewed by the city, the state, and the Diocese of Green Bay.
LeGreve also says the church is anticipating selecting a contractor and having the required permissions by June.
According to St. Francis, they only need a little more than $327,000 as part of their Rebuild My Church campaign for the new building.
The church is looking to raise $2.5 million.
