Plymouth’s City Administrator has shared an update on the city’s new utility substation and transmission lines.
Tim Blakeslee, City Administrator and Utilities Manager, has said that after a year-long review, the Public Service Commission (PSC) issued an order in January approving the construction of American Transmission Company (ATC) lines that will connect to new Plymouth Utilities substation that is in the process of being built.
The ATC transmission line project has been the subject of comments, concerns, and questions pertaining to its possible impacts on the local environment.
Blakeslee has said that the new substation and ATC lines have gone through extensive vetting, review, and approvals by the City of Plymouth in 2022, the Town of Mitchell in 2023, and the PSC of Wisconsin in 2024.
The construction of the new substation and subsequent ATC transmission lines came about after it was discovered that the city’s distribution equipment in its southwest portion had reached near capacity and thus could leave residents without power.
Plymouth Utilities encourages those with questions or concerns regarding transmission line routes, potential construction or operational impacts, or other related matters to contact ATC at (866) 899-3204.
