
A state park in Sheboygan has been awarded a grant by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
The Friends of Kohler-Andre State Park on the shores of Lake Michigan has been named 1 of 28 recipients awarded with Stewardship funding through the Friends Grants program.
The portion of grant funding going to the Friends of Kohler-Andre State Park will go toward the first phase of improvements for the park’s amphitheater.
Other parks in the area to receive funding included Point Beach State Forest in Manitowoc County, High Cliff State Park in Calumet County, and the Fox River State Trail in Brown County.
The Stewardship program of the DNR allocates $500,000 a year for Friends Grants to be awarded to nonprofits and conservation groups throughout the state.
This grant funding and work done by the various friend groups help improve facilities, build recreation projects, and restore habitats in Wisconsin state parks.
