Senator Tammy Baldwin is calling the recent cuts to the Social Security Administration an “attack on Wisconsinites.”
As a part of President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency efforts, organizational restructuring and significant workforce reductions are expected to be implemented at the SSA.
It is anticipated that 50% of the agency’s 60,000 strong workforce could be let go.
Baldwin issued a statement, where she said “Donald Trump and Elon Musk slashing Social Security’s staff in half and shuttering field offices will only mean longer wait times, delays in getting benefits, or seniors just not getting the benefits they are owed – and it’s all just to make room in the budget to fund a tax break for the richest of the rich. This is as wrong as it gets.”
