Strong winds caused multiple fire departments to respond to a Manitowoc apartment fire early this morning (March 1st)
The Manitowoc Fire Department explained that they were called to 5100 block of Expo Drive just before 3:25 am.
They found a 16-unit apartment complex with flames showing from the 2nd floor and roofline.
Because of the weather, MPD activated a MABAS alarm to bring in extra help.
Firefighters started attacking the fire and tried to protect exposed buildings around the complex.
The MABAS alarm was upgraded, but the fire was eventually contained to the original building and no serious injuries were reported.
Everyone inside the apartment made it out okay as well.
The cause is still under investigation and how much damage the fire caused is not known at this time.
