After five years of selling his CBD products at farmers’ markets around the area, a local veteran is finally ready to open his own brick-and-mortar store.
The Purple Nugget, owned and operated by Jacob Jeske, will open its doors at 1523 Washington Street in Manitowoc this Saturday (March 1st).
Jeske tells SeehaferNews.com that his venture into the world of CBD began with a COVID-induced layoff.
So, instead of sulking, Jeske got to work crafting his own CBD lotions and other products, which went over well at local farmers’ markets.
There are still some misconceptions surrounding CBD and its relationship with marijuana.
Jeske compared the two to apples.
“You have your green apples, and you have your red apples,” he said. “Obviously, there’s the same part of the family, but you have a different color and sometimes even different vitamins among the apples.”
The main difference is that CBD does not have the psychoactive chemical, THC, but it does have the medicinal qualities.
Jeske says his time working on submarines in the Navy has been vital to his success in the business world.
“I got to focus a lot on atmosphere control works in controlling the atmosphere of the plants, even though it’s all a little bit of a smaller spectrum,” he noted. “I understand camp systems and you understand how the atmosphere works really helps kind of carry over. Also, water supply. Keeping the water clean. Understanding PMs and pH.”
Jeske said he is very excited to open up this weekend and offer an array of CBD products, including CBD infused tea and coffee.
