A statewide dairy organization is supporting some of Governor Tony Evers’ proposals in his state budget.
The Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association (WCMA) celebrates Evers highlighting significant investments in dairy innovation, agricultural exports, food security, and rural infrastructure.
The budget proposal also includes measures to ensure transparency in food labeling and a new full-time position to administer the Wisconsin Initiative for Agricultural Exports.
Senior Director of Program and Policy Rebekah Sweeney explained, “We appreciate Governor Evers’ commitment to the strength of our state’s dairy processors, and the safety and stability of the rural communities they serve.”
Lastly, the WCMA also supports Evers investments in the state’s food supply chain including $30 million for the Food Security Initiative, over $768,000 in the Local Food Purchasing Assistance Program, and $400,000 for the Something Special from Wisconsin program, among others.
