The City of Sheboygan’s Emergency Management and Response Plan (EMRP) will be up for discussion and possible approval tonight (February 26th).
At tonight’s Licensing, Hearings, and Public Safety Committee meeting the EMRP is set to be presented by Sheboygan Fire Chief Eric Montellano who recommends the plan be recommended for approval.
In Chief Montellano’s proposed plan, he states that the function of an EMRP “specifies the authorities, functions, and responsibilities that pertain to establishing collaborative action plans between City departments, local, state, federal, volunteer, public, non-profit and private sector organizations.”
It also facilitates the protection of lives, property, and the environment in major disasters of any nature. These disasters can range from severe weather watches to major national threats of terrorism.
The EMRP will also outline lines of succession and specific duties for each arm of Sheboygan’s city government.
If approved by the committee tonight, the EMRP would go in front of the Common Council for final approval in the future.
The EMRP can be viewed in its entirety in the Licensing, Hearings, and Public Safety Committee agenda minutes.
