The Manitowoc man who allegedly crashed his car while intoxicated and fled from police is free on bond.
38-year-old Scott R. Bruenchert was given a $5,000 signature bond on a charge of OWI, his fourth offense.
Manitowoc police officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the area of West Custer Street and Alverno Road Friday evening (February 21st).
When they arrived, Bruechert, who was allegedly behind the wheel, ran from the scene.
He was apprehended roughly 30 minutes later in the 7000 block of Bauch Road.
While in custody, he allegedly told police that he had consumed seven pints of beer, and would not pass a field sobriety test.
As a part of his bond, Bruenchert was ordered to maintain absolute sobriety and to not operate a vehicle without a valid license.
He is due back in court on Friday for his initial appearance.
