Dorothy A. Tisler, age 89, formerly of Menchalville and a resident of the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center.
The former Dorothy Skarivoda was born on May 11, 1935 in the Township of Kossuth, a daughter of the late Edwin and Lillian (Kostlevy) Skarivoda. She grew up in the Town of Kossuth and was a 1953 graduate of Mishicot High School. On May 13, 1953 Dorothy married John “Jack” Tisler at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1995. Dorothy worked for Tecumseh in New Holstein, retiring at the age of 55. Dorothy and Jack also owned Tisler Trucking and the Tisler Salvage Yard. Both businesses are currently owned and operated by family members.
Dorothy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, WFLA, and she enjoyed traveling, gardening, and occasional trips to the casino.
Survivors include her two children: Gary (Sal) Tisler, Menchalville, Patti (Mike) Schenian, Menchalville; two grandchildren: Jeffrey (Cristin) Tisler, Reedsville, Matthew Schenian and Holly Kostechka, Menchalville; four great-grandchildren: Jackson Tisler, Mason Tisler and his finacee Alanna Phillip, Delaney Tisler, Vincent Grall; one brother: Edwin Skarivoda, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Edwin and Lillian Skarivoda; her husband: Jack Tisler; two grandchildren: Ryan Schenian, Carrie Grall; two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Leslie (Helen) Skarivoda, LeRoy (Lorraine) Skarivoda, Joanne Skarivoda; three brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Joseph (Rita) Tisler, Stanley (Lovella) Tisler, Molly (William) Korinek, infant: Grace Tisler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville. The Rev. Brian Belongia will Celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday, from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations, in Dorothy’s name, can be made for St. Joseph Catholic Church, Manitowoc County Humane Society, or The American Cancer Society.
