The Manitowoc woman who said she worships Santa Muerte, or the Saint of Death, has been found not competent to proceed in her court case.
Court documents show that 48-year-old Blanca Perez-Hernandez was back in a Manitowoc County Courtroom last Thursday (February 21st) to hear results from a competency hearing.
While a psychiatrist found that Perez-Hernandez is not competent, she said in court that she feels she is.
Prosecutors couldn’t subpoena the doctor for the purpose of the hearing.
Judge Jerilyn Dietz also reminded Perez-Hernandez that she has the right to an attorney.
She’ll return to court on March 6th for another competency hearing.
Perez-Hernandez faces two charges of 1st-degree reckless injury with the use of a dangerous weapon after she allegedly slashed a person with a knife while trying to steal license plates off cars in Manitowoc.
When police asked her why, she said that the Saint of Death had gifted her all the cars in the area and all the world.
