A man was arrested for his fourth OWI over the weekend.
The Manitowoc Police Department received a report at 8:45 Friday evening (February 21st) that a man had returned home intoxicated, and had driven away.
Shortly after that report, a single-vehicle crash was reported near West Custer Street and Alverno Road.
The driver reportedly began walking away from the scene and ran north when officers arrived.
The 38-year-old man was located in the 7000 block of Bauch Road and was taken into custody. He was taken to a local hospital for an evidentiary blood draw, where he reportedly told officers he was trying to get home and that he “seen lights and freaked out.”
The man also admitted to drinking seven pints of beer earlier in the evening, that he wouldn’t pass a field sobriety test, and that he was not safe to drive.
After the blood draw, the man was taken to the Manitowoc County Jail on a charge of OWI, his 4th offense.
