More trees will be planted in Sheboygan thanks to recent grant funding.
In partnership with Trees Forever, Alliant Energy has awarded the city with a $5,000 grant as part of their One Million Trees Initiative.
The $5,000 grant is the maximum amount able to be awarded to a municipality through the program, and it will fund the planting of 75 trees in Sheboygan.
Of the Wisconsin cities awarded grant funding through the initiative, Sheboygan will be planting the most trees of the 11 municipalities.
Alliant Energy offers the Community Tree Planting program to all communities where they provide service in order to add more trees to parks, schools, streets, and other public areas.
For projects to be considered in the application process, they must provide energy-saving benefits to the community.
