Multiple fire departments were called to a garage fire in Elkhart Lake.
The Elkhart Lake Fire Department was called to the 200 block of Crestwood Drive for the first yesterday (February 20th) just before 3:20 pm.
A fire captain asked for a MABAS alarm due to the garage being fully engulfed in flames.
One fire crew split up to attack the flames and do a search inside because it wasn’t known at the time if everyone had made it out.
Another fire truck was used to start putting out the blaze from above the garage and to an extension into the attic.
Other fire departments arrived to help with any extra extinguishment of the fire as well as venting and overhauling the garage.
No one, including residents, were injured, however some firefighters fell because of the icy conditions.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
How much damage it caused is also not known.
Elkhart Lake firefighters thanked all departments that responded, including Glenbeulah, Kiel, New Holstein, and Plymouth, among others.
