Sheboygan’s marina has successfully recertified as a Wisconsin Clean Marina.
The city announced on Tuesday (February 18th) that the Harbor Centre Marina received the recertification, reinforcing its dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
Since the marina’s inception in 1993, it has served as a destination for families, boaters, and fishers alike, supplying some of the best fishing opportunities Lake Michigan has to offer.
Maina Manager Nicholas Warminsky emphasized the importance of sustainability when addressing the recertification and the marina’s improvements, saying, “Harbor Centre Marina has long been a certified clean marina. It is crucial that we continue this tradition and maintain an environmentally friendly facility.”
Marina-related industries have proven to be massive for Wisconsin’s economy, providing $2.7 billion annually to communities such as Sheboygan.
The Wisconsin Clean Marina Program was founded in 2010, which sees certified marinas voluntarily adopt the best practices to prevent pollution while protecting fish, wildlife, and public health.
The Sheboygan Harbor Centre Marina is one 1 of 26 marinas in the state certified through the program.
